     Roland Kenneth Whitley was born on 8 August 1930 in Montréal, Québec.1 He died on 6 July 2013 in Gainsville, Georgia, at the age of 82.1

Roland Kenneth Whitley, 82, passed away in Gainesville, Georgia July 6, 2013, born in Montreal, Quebec August 8, 1930. Son of Edmund and Annie Whitley. Married to Geraldine Wicksteed (Sewell) Whitley in December 1, 1950. Ken became a Certified Accountant (CA) after studying accounting at McGill University. In the 1950s he and Geraldine and their eldest children began an adventure in South America, where he worked for the accounting firm Ernst & Ernst and later, Stoca, in Caracas, Venezuela, Bogota, Colombia, and Lima, Peru. In the 1960s, Ken and family returned to Montreal, Canada and worked for Clarkson and Gordon, Crane Canada, where he became Controller. In the 1970s, Ken and family moved to North Tarrytown (now Sleepy Hollow), New York, and worked for Crane Co., as Controller. He continued at Crane Co. through the 1980s as Chief Financial Officer. He and Geraldine retired in 1989, traveling to Europe, Russia, and Africa, and splitting their time between Palm Coast, Florida and Ste. Agathe des Monts, Quebec, where they enjoyed their time golfing, participating in Palm Coast Yacht Club events with their boat Mi Toi, and summers by the lake in Quebec with their children and grandchildren. A devoted father of five, Ken is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Wicksteed (Sewell) Whitley; his daughter Diana Lynn Hayden (Robert), retired, his son David Douglas Whitley (Amy), retired, and his son Graeme Earle Whitley (Yvette), Director of New Business Development, John Wiley and Sons; his grandchildren Stacey (Hayden) Brantley, Eric Hayden, and Melissa Hayden; Sarah and Ryan Double; Marc and Megan Whitley; and Owen, Gordon, and Stuart Whitley; and great grandchildren Addison and Landon Brantley; Carter Hayden; and Sandra Double. He is also survived by his half-sister Rita (Whitley) Harrison. Ken is predeceased by his son, Geoffrey Kenneth Whitley (d. 1983), and his daughter, Sandra Elizabeth (Whitley) Double (d. 2003). A memorial service will be held August 3, 2013, 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Church, 12, Préfontaine Ouest (corner of Tour du Lac), Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Québec J8C 1C3.
