Adam de Chetwynd1
M, #18312
Adam de Chetwynd was the son of Sir Adam de Chetwynd de Chetwynd.1 Adam de Chetwynd. Rector of Austrey, Warwickshire.1 He married Hawise de Doditon, daughter of Adam de Doditon and Avelina de Woodcote.2 There is no evidence that Hawise de Doditon married Adam the rector beyond the statement by Eyton that Hawise married Adam son of Adam de Chetwynd; the churchman could be a son of Adam and Hawise.3
Sir Adam de Chetwynd de Chetwynd1
M, #18279, d. 1210
Sir Adam de Chetwynd de Chetwynd was the son of Robert fitz Turold.2 Eyton in his History does not establish a genetic link with Turold, who held Catewinde of Roger de Montgomery, though later authors have assumed it and go so far as to say that he (or his son) assumed the name of the manor and being first of it, took the name Adam. Sir Adam de Chetwynd de Chetwynd married probably Agnes Lovell., daughter of John Lovell of Minster Lovell and Aliva Bassett, Chetwyn-Stapleton in his note upon the marriage says that Agnes was the daughter of John Lord Lovel of Tichmarsh and Minster-Lovel, Oxfordshire, and that this seems to be confirmed by the fact that his grandson Sir John de Chetwynd II. inherited property at Baxterley in North Warwickshire "from his kinsman John, son of William Lovell." He cites Lodge's Irish Peerage and Porney's Heraldry in support. However the Complete Peerage dates William Lovel's death to sometime in 1212 or 1213 and shows that John, William's son and heir, was a minor at the date of his death. If Agnes was indeed the wife of Adam then she must have been the daughter of William Lovel.3,4 Adam de Chetwynd appears in the Forest-Roll of 1180 as compounding for a pourpresture by payment of 3s. In June 1200 he occurs as Visor in a case of Essoign, a business always at that time entrusted to knights. At the County Assizes of October 1203, Adam de Chetwind essoigned his attendance at the common summons, his Essoignor being Nicholas Crasset.5 Sir Adam de Chetwynd de Chetwynd died in 1210.3

Adam de Chetwynd of Cublesdon1
M, #5298, d. 1282
Adam de Chetwynd of Cublesdon was the son of Sir John Chetwynd.1 Adam de Chetwynd of Cublesdon married Eva de Oswaldestre, daughter of Roger de Albo Monasterio Sire de Blancminster and (widow of) Llewelyn ap Iorweth. In 1282 Adam de Chetwynd, Eva de Oswaldestre and John her son and William the Provost were sued by Richard de Okeover and Beatrice his wife for disseizin of a house and of one third of 16 acres and one third of 100 acres of wood. Adam stated that he claimed through William de Ippestanes who was under age and in ward to him. William de Ippestanes stated that Richard and Beatrice had never been in seizing of the tenement because William de Ippestanes his father had enfeoffed in it one Petronilla the widow and after the death of Petronilla he had entered as of his own right. The verdict is illegible.2 Adam de Chetwynd of Cublesdon was executed in 1282 . After his death his widow, Eva de Oswaldestre claimed that he had given the wardship of Ipstones (inter alia) to her.2 The Calendar of Charter Rolls lists in the charter for Lilleshall Abbey of 7 June 1285, the confirmation of a gift from "Adam de Chetewynd, 10s. yearly from the town of Blakeford and Coneshill."
