Bates.² Merle Voak Aplin married Sarah Johanna Sewall, daughter of Albert Defiance Sewall and Dora Randina Belseth, on 29 September 1910 in Britton, Marshall County, South Dakota.³ Merle Voak Aplin died on 21 June 1955 in Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee, at the age of 66⁴ and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Tennessee.⁵

     Evaline Amanda Apple was born on 19 April 1854.^1,2 She was the daughter of John Wesley Apple and Aseanath Martin Cleveland.¹ Evaline Amanda Apple married Alfred Hanson Penn Holter in 1877.¹ Evaline Amanda Apple died in 1938 in Ohio² and is buried in Olive Branch Cemetery, Olive Branch, Clermont County, Ohio.²

     John Wesley Apple was born on 2 October 1815.^1,2 He married Aseanath Martin Cleveland, daughter of Jeremiah Clement Cleveland and Elizabeth Robinson, in 1840.¹ John Wesley Apple died on 27 March 1889 in Ohio at the age of 73.^1,2
