Sydney Gask was baptised on 9 August 1867 at St. Giles's, South Mimms.1 He married Beatrice Cowell Davies, daughter of William Cowell Davies and Harriet Catherine Isabel Johnson, on 4 October 1913 in St. Leonard's Church, Streatham.2 Sydney Gask died on 22 December 1948 in Brampton House, Marlow, Buckinghamshire, at the age of 81.3

     Vivian Desmond Gask. Flying Officer, Lieutenant (Royal Navy). He was born on 18 October 1908 in 11 Bryanston Mansions, York Street, London.1 He was the son of Paymaster Rear-Admiral Walter Gask C.B. and Edith Ethel Winter.1 Vivian Desmond Gask died on 16 December 1935 on H.M.S. Cornwall at the age of 27 of heart failure during an attack of malaria he was subsequently buried in Bidadari cemetery, Upper Serangoon Road, Singapore.

Paymaster Rear-Admiral Walter Gask C.B.1

     Paymaster Rear-Admiral Walter Gask C.B. was born on 18 October 1870 in South Mimms.2 He was the son of Henry Gask and Elizabeth Styles. Paymaster Rear-Admiral Walter Gask C.B. was baptised on 24 November 1870 at St. Giles's, South Mimms.2 He married Edith Ethel Winter, daughter of James Irving Winter and Caroline Pettett, on 28 December 1907 in St. James's, Paddington.3 After being educated at Dulwich College South London he was commissioned 1887. Paymaster 1901, Capt 1920, Rear Admiral retired 1925. During the tour of the Duke of York later King George VI to the Colonies, he served as secretary to the Commodore on board the Royal Yacht HMS Ophir. 1910-1913 he was secretary to the Commander in Chief of the China Station and during the Great War secretary to the Admiral Dover patrol. CB 1916. Chevalier Legion of Honour 1918.4 Paymaster Rear-Admiral Walter Gask C.B. died on 7 July 1949 in London at the age of 78.

     John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster was born in March 1340 in St Bavon's Abbey, Ghent, Flanders.2 He was the son of King Edward III, and Philippa of Hainault.1 John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster married firstly Blanche of Grosmont,, daughter of Henry of Grosmont, Duke of Lancaster and Isabella de Beaumont, on 19 May 1359 at Reading Abbey, Berkshire.3 John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster married secondly Constance of Castile in 1371.4 John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster married as his third wife Katherine Roët,, daughter of Sir Paon de Roët,, The issue of this marriage, all surnamed Beaufort after their father's French lordship, were all born before their parents were united in wedlock; they were legitimated by the Pope on 1 September, 1396, and also by charter of Richard II on 9 February, 1397, but this same charter also excluded them from the succession.5 John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster died on 3 February 1399 in Leicester Castle at the age of 58 or possibly, Ely Place, Holborn, London.3
