Eileen Sewall Johnson, 60, of Austin, died Monday, October 9, 1995, following a long and courageous struggle with cancer. She was a kind, loving wife and mother, a woman of extraordinary spiritual strength and dignity. Eileen placed her faith in God and devoted her life to home and family.
She was born March 12, 1935, in Dallas, to Ella S. and Edgar S. Johnston. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a major in accounting.
She is survived by her husband, Morris Deane Johnson of Austin. They were married June 9, 1956, in Dallas, and last June celebrated their 39th anniversary together. They lived in Houston several years during the late 1950's but moved back to Austin to stay in 1959.
Morris and Eileen Johnson raised four children together. One son, James Andrew Johnson, died in 1987.
Eileen is survived by a daughter, Janet Johnson Baker and her husband, Marty; and two sons, Douglas Scott Johnson and his wife Jessie, and Phillip Deane Johnson and his wife, Diane, all of Austin. Eileen was so very proud of her five grandchildren, Katie, Amber, and Brooks Baker, and Danielle and Samantha Johnson, all of Austin. She leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, including nephew, David Johnston and his wife, Jacqueline of Austin. She is survived by two sisters, Sarah Brockette and her husband, Marion of Dallas, and Dr. Julia Marie Johnston of Bridgeport, Connecticut; and by one brother, Charles Johnston and his wife, Patsy of Longview.³

The Rev. Jeffrey Johnson was a well-known a Presbyterian minister, who was formerly pastor of Huntingdon, in the United States. He was educated at Glasgow University, and held pastorates at Forest Hill, and later at St Leonards. He then went for a special course of study at the University of Jena and, taking the degree of doctor of philosophy, and in about 1904 accepted the call of the American church at Huntingdon, Long Island, a famous church dating from 1648. His ministry in America lasted until 1920 when he resigned because of ill health and returned to England and settled in Bath. There he took great interest in philanthropy, particularly in a local tenement housing scheme.
