Jeremiah Noyes Sewall1

     Jeremiah Noyes Sewall was born on 13 October 1808.1 He was the son of James Sewall and Lucy Noyes.1 Jeremiah Noyes Sewall married Hannah Bell Bird on 14 April 1832 in Trinity Church, New York, New York.2 Jeremiah Noyes Sewall died on 11 April 1884 in Hahnemann Hospital, New York, at the age of 75, he had been ill for some time having had a stroke.3 The funeral took place on 14 April 1884 at St. Ann's Episcopal Church, West 18th St., New York, and he was buried in Greenwood Cemetery.4

He came to New York in about 1839 and he ultimately became a broker. At one time he had considerable wealth, but he suffered continued losses, and he gradually lost his means. For the past few years he has been employed in the office of the Surveyor of the Port. He was a member of the Union League Club and of the New England Society. He leaves a widow but no children.

He worked in 1837-1850 as a jeweler in New York City NY initially with a shop at 58 Nassua Street. He was a partner in 1838-1840 with Adnah Sackett in New York City NY as SACKETT & SEWALL, with a shop at 59 Nassau Street. Sackett remained in Providence, while Sewall maintained the city store.5

     Jerry Alfred Sewall was born on 20 July 1928 in Hennepin County, Minnesota.1 He was the son of Earl Albert Sewall and Irene Mary Sipe.2 Jerry Alfred Sewall married Carole Jean Lord on 20 August 1966 in Hillcrest Methodist Church chapel, Ironton, Hennepin County, Minnesota.3 Jerry Alfred Sewall died on 22 October 2017 in Minnetonka, Minnesota, at the age of 89.4 He was re-intered on 21 October 2021 in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota.5

Age 89, of Mtka., passed away Oct 22, 2017. Preceded in death by parents Earl and Irene; sisters Orlayne and MaryAnne. He is survived by wife, Carole; daughter Angela (Steve) Deckers; brother Doug, sisters Betty, Carolyn, Bonnie; and two grandchildren. Born in MN, Jerry joined the Navy at Age 17. He was a heavy equipment operator for Hennepin County for 28 years. Jerry loved fishing, golfing, water and snow skiing, woodworking and Chevy trucks. Although Alzheimer's took his memory, Jerry remained cheerful and physically strong to the very end. In honor of Jerry, donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association.6

Joanne graduated from Newmarket High School, Class of 1955, she was still very involved with them and enjoyed the yearly reunions. She enjoyed meeting her girlfriends to play dominos, crocheting and knitting.
She worked many years at the McAllen Company in Newmarket and later on at the Country House in Durham.
She was a communicant and sang in the choir of the Christian Faith Church in Newfields and formerly Newmarket Community Church.
Joanne was a member of the Dover Elks.
She is survived by her son and his wife, James C. and Vicki Stewart III of Effingham; two daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Randy Hatch of Madbury and Julie Stewart-Phelps and Ross Phelps of Tilton; five grandchildren, Jim, David, Sarah, MacKenzie, and Avery; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.2

Mr Samuel Moody to Mary Sayward, daughter of John Sayward and Mary Bane, on 1 January 1739/40.3 John Sewall died before 14 June 1805 in Georgetown, Maine, the notice of his death in the Eastern Argus states that his 8 children were then alive, of his 56 grand-children 44 were then living and of 54 great grand-children, 52 were then living.4

He was a a shoemaker. The latter part of his life was passed on Arrowsic Island in the town of Georgetown, Maine.5

     John Sewall was born say 1782.1 He was the son of Thomas Sewall and Sarah Weeks.1 John Sewall married Hannah Greeley, daughter of Philip Greeley and Betty Merrill, on 31 December 1807 in Salisbury, Massachusetts, (the groom's name being transcribed as Jewall.)2 John Sewall died on 13 December 1861 in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.3

Deacon John Sewall1

     Deacon John Sewall was born on 5 May 1729 in York County, Maine.1,2 He was the son of Capt. Samuel Sewall and Sarah Batchelder.1 Deacon John Sewall married Joanna Stone, daughter of Lt. Benjamin Stone and Abigail (Unknown).3 Deacon John Sewall died on 27 June 1808 in York, Maine, at the age of 79. The Vital Records of York carry this entry "of Decr 27, 1801 Æ. 79. (sic.)4,3" He was buried in South Side Cemetery, York Village, York County, Maine, The inscription on a stone in the old burying ground in York reads "In memory of Deacon John Sewall, whose modesty, benevolence, hospitality and piety rendered him truly amiable to all his acqaintences, he died June 27, 1808 Aet 80 years".3,5
